My understandings of svara's as a beginner
Often I find myself delving into same things again and again - trying to find out what is the meaning and mechanics of how music works and the musical experience. What is it that makes some musical notes - svara - sound good and why some other sound unharmonious. It fascinates me how a sequence of svara's can change the listeners emotion or rather invoke a specific emotion. I try to figure out what is the reason behind this association of emotion and listening to music. Not just emotions, certain patterns of music also make you clap or cheer up hence affecting the limbic system or the nerve regions controlling them. While I am not trained in this field I am severely handicapped to grasp and explain most of this phenomenon. I however have over time learnt theory behind how Raaga's are structured and how they are used in classical Indian musical performances.
